What’s your opinion and why?
Alican: ‘In my opinion, effective cyber security depends on all stakeholders working together to understand, prevent and tackle digital threats. This means that both leadership and staff must be committed, at every level of every department.
To me, creating a culture of cyber security means that if you see anything odd or strange, you say something about it. Also that you know who to contact if there’s a problem.
Just a single data breach could totally destroy our company's reputation and bottom line. That’s why I believe cyber security is a responsibility for us all.
Within the Digital Farming team specifically, we are well aware that more than 20,000 farms depend on our software to run their daily business. Our farmers are the owners of their data and we are the ones who make sure the data passes through the components securely and without incident, day in and day out!’
What’s your opinion and why?
Danny: ‘With a background in IT, it’s no surprise that I fully agree with the statement. While our awareness continues to grow, there’s still room for improvement in cyber security awareness, both in our personal lives and in our working environment.
Criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated in tempting us to click on malicious links, so it's crucial for us all to act now.
One action we’re undertaking at Lely is rolling out the Modern Workplace, a workplace with access to everything we need to perform our jobs while enhancing system security. As Project Manager of Modern Workplace, I firmly believe that this new way of working significantly enhances our cyber security-related resilience and the awareness around this crucial topic. Our team will do its utmost to ensure a smooth transition for everyone; we look forward to your involvement in it!’
What’s your opinion and why?
Dominic: ‘Cyber security has evolved significantly in recent years, with the methods used to exploit vulnerabilities becoming more sophisticated and the rapid growth of AI and automation presenting us with new challenges as well as opportunities. AI and automation are being used to launch more advanced cyber attacks, but they are also being employed to defend against these attacks by identifying and responding to threats in real time.
I think it’s crucial to improve our knowledge and stay updated on the latest threats and best practices in protecting against them. Simple actions, such as verifying the legitimacy of an e-mail address or link before clicking on it, can make the difference. Multi-factor authentication, routine password changes, complex passwords and using a password manager all play vital roles in minimising risks. Furthermore, it’s essential that we’re aware of phishing attacks and know how to identify and avoid them.
Lastly, regular back-ups of our data are crucial. Ransomware attacks can lock up your data, but regular back-ups can minimise the damage. Reach out to your IT professionals at work if you need help. We all need to work together and continue to improve our cyber security in this fast-evolving digital revolution.’

What’s your opinion and why?
Lars: ‘Cyber security is becoming more and more important nowadays. At the same time, the risks and consequences of ignoring this topic are increasing. That’s why I think it’s very important that we all deal with it and become more aware of the topic. If everyone makes even a small contribution, we’ll ensure greater security when browsing the internet or collaborating within the Lely distribution channel.
You can also help to close loopholes in our operating systems and keep suspicious malware out, for instance by updating your laptop and mobile phones regularly. Or by only using programs approved and supported by Lely on your digital devices. And, last but not least, by speaking up! Approach and support colleagues proactively when it comes to cyber security-related topics.’
