Lely North America wins
NAMA award
A trophy was recently added to Lely North America’s collection by NAMA (National Agri-Marketing Association). Lely took first place, with ‘Lely Coffee and Dutch letter’, in the direct-mail category. The judges said it was a great example of creative adaptation to the digital environment that we live in today.
The first invitation mailing contained a co-branded sleeve to draw the attention to the virtual event. Once the prospects ‘converted’ their invitation online and found the meeting credentials, a cup of coffee and treat for the event was promised. Finally, the participants received a Lely-branded cup and Dutch pastry by the second mailing.
This mailer will also be entered into the national Best of NAMA awards in July 2021. We’ll cross our fingers!

LC Certification for Taurus
Lely Center Oberessendorf is now Taurus certified. It prepared the first A4 Taurus and this one will be installed on a farm on where an A2 has previously milked the herd. The original owner of this A4 switched to an Astronaut A5.
Congratulations to Lely Center Oberessendorf. Lely is happy to have three certified centers, so far. The next Center to join them will be Lely Center Bayern, where the first steps towards certification have already been made.
DairyTech 2021
Lely Atlantic was represented at the online DairyTech 2021 event, with three speakers. Farmer Robert Sloan focused on a green-field-site farm setup and its operation. Farmer George Leicester focused in on T4C data and its benefits for farm management, and commercial product specialist M&C Elizabeth Thornley provided an overview of NPI.
All three presentations were well received by the audience of 227 people. They showed their curiosity about robotisation with interesting questions, such as ‘how do robots behave after so many years in continuous operation?’ and ‘can robots be used with grazing systems?’ They also made suggestions including: ‘it would be good to have progesterone measurement integrated in T4C’. The majority of the questions were addressed to farmers, proving that the people actually using our technology are the most efficient Lely communication channel.

Webinar to promote Lely Astronaut
More than 800 subscribers, 571 live attendees and 61 on-demand viewers have watched almost two hours of the event and more than 30 minutes of Q&As. That’s just a short summary of the webinar hosted by Lely Italy in December 2020. The subject? How to design and start up a robotic farm in order to optimise cow health and welfare and maximise economic results. The goal was to promote the Lely Astronaut milking system.
A well-known external consultant hosted an informative presentation about cow well-being and free cow traffic. And then one of Lely’s sales managers explained how to install the robot successfully, and how the Lely team can offer help and support to ensure a hassle-free installation. Completed with a testimonial video, the attendees were well informed on an interesting topic.

Well-equipped service care for extreme conditions
Lely Center Technoleader in Russia has invested in a special, well-equipped and robust service vehicle. As you can see from the photograph, the car needs be reliable in extreme conditions. This photo was taken near a Dairy XL farm in the Vologda region of Russia. It must be great, but also challenging to be a service engineer there. But this car might make it a bit easier to meet the demands of the job!
South Island Agricultural Field Days Kirwee March 24th – 26th
Lely attended the South Island Agricultural Field Days, New Zealand’s largest and oldest agricultural field days. It was held on an 80-hectare site at Kirwee, which has 21 of those hectares dedicated to the field days. About 30,000 visitors attended during the three days.
Lely New Zealand had an excellent event and had the pleasure of hosting many visitors to our site. We fielded numerous enquiries for our innovative products, particularly the A5 robot, Juno Flex feed pusher (both of which were working displays), and the Calm automated calf-rearing system, ensuring we will be busy in the coming weeks.
Enquiries came from all over the South Island including Southland, the West Coast and Canterbury, proving people enjoy the opportunity to see, and learn about, what is new and innovative in the agricultural industry.
