Did you know that the new ‘Health dashboard’ offers the ability to analyse administered treatment plans? Using data insights, we can empower farming practices for improved efficiency and animal welfare.

Digital farming

The right attention through smart data

Lely Horizon supports the transition from automation to data-driven decision-making. By using smart algorithms and data gathered from different sources, it highlights animals that need attention. For example, the farmer receives notifications about cows with suspected ketosis, mastitis or other diseases at an early stage. This helps to prevent escalation and can even reduce the use of antibiotics.

Did you know that fresh grass is easier for cows to digest? As a result, it produces less intestinal methane, so it is beneficial for both cow health and the environment.

What's next?

Maximising the potential of fresh grass

Boasting optimal levels of protein and energy, fresh grass is the natural source of nutrition for dairy cows. Lely Exos, our first fully autonomous harvesting and feeding robot, operates multiple times a day, 24/7, from early spring until late autumn, whether as an improved zero-grazing system or as an addition to grazing. We kicked off 2024 with 16 Exos robots in the field, and the aim is to harvest over 20 million kilograms of fresh grass by the end of the year.

Did you know that numerous smaller meals throughout the day contribute to maintaining stable pH levels in the rumen? Moreover, lower-ranking cows no longer have to compete at the fence, as feed is frequently available.

Feeding

Nutritious feed is critical for cow health

For optimal dairy production, cows need good-quality and nutritious feed. The Lely Vector, our automated feeding system, prioritises frequent, fresh and tailored nutrition. This can have a positive impact on animal health, fertility and production. For example, lactating cows have different nutritional requirements compared to dry cows and youngstock.

Did you know that a new member has been added to the Discovery family? The Discovery Collector C2 is supplemented by more driving capacity and wireless charging, helping to keep barns even cleaner.

Manure

Excellent barn hygiene is key

A clean floor prevents hoof problems and keeps tails and udders clean. Lely’s innovative manure robots, including the Discovery and Collector, ensure 24/7 barn hygiene while respecting cow traffic and natural behaviour. Equipped with sensors, the robots navigate through the barn without disturbing the naturally curious ladies. By keeping the environment clean and hygienic, we not only enhance the health of the cows, but also improve their overall well-being.

Did you know that the A5 can detect signs of diseases like mastitis at an early stage? This allows farmers to intervene quickly.

When we talk about milking, the Lely Astronaut A5 stands out. The A5 is designed for cow autonomy: it offers her comfort and freedom of movement. Besides that, she stays close to the herd while being milked. Features like the I-flow concept, the silent hybrid arm and improved teat detection encourage natural behaviour and minimise any potential stress.

Milking

Getting milked was never so comfortable
