We have achieved many more milestones since then, culminating in the introduction of the world's first automated milking robot in 1992 that changed the way dairy farmers work for ever. Speaking of impact… But we have also had less successful ideas, always learned from them and, above all, had a good laugh afterwards!
In addition to technological progress, that is what makes Lely so special and successful: we have kept our feet on the ground, with tireless passion and energy to do better every day, together. For a sustainable, profitable and enjoyable future for the farmer and his business.
The patent for the finger wheel rake in 1948 was the start of my father’s and my uncle’s passion. They wanted to make the farmer’s life easier and more pleasant. They soon gathered more and more people around them to help. The innovations kept coming and Lely grew. Not only in turnover, but also in numbers of customers and employees. Because everyone wanted to be part of our successful brand! The power harrow gave a huge boost to Lely's growth. Customers were extremely happy with this new way of working. And there is nothing better than satisfied customers! Successes like this allowed Lely to grow enormously as a company.
The 75th anniversary of our company was a good moment to present the milestones in our history in a special jubilee book. A huge job, but one that resulted in an impressive timeline with countless great moments and amusing stories. 75 years red impact. Memories that we have created together.
