Workshop
Biodiversity and water

'Biodiversity isn’t just about nature somewhere far away. It’s the foundation of the food systems we all depend on.'
- Pim Maassen

Scientists have described around two million species but estimate that eight to ten million species exist on Earth. This means that over 80% of all species are still unknown – highlighting how much biodiversity remains undiscovered.

Key insights
  • Many everyday food products – such as fruit, vegetables, nuts and coffee – depend on pollinators.

  • Over 200,000 animal species, including more than 20,000 bee species, play a role in this pollination.

  • Biodiversity starts locally. By strengthening green corridors around our Lely offices, we make biodiversity visible in our daily working environment.

  • Replacing a few tiles in your garden with native plants turns even small gardens into stepping stones for bees, birds and the life in our soils.

Hosted by Pim Maassen, Sustainability Farm Model Specialist

'Creating an inclusive culture is something we do together – step by step, getting a little better every day.'
- Nicole Blascos

Workshop
Social responsibility
Key insights
  • Inclusion starts with everyday interactions and awareness of how our words and actions affect others.

  • Being quick to notice and slow to judge helps create more understanding and better collaboration.

  • Inclusion is not about what you meant to say or do but about how it made the other person feel.

  • By keeping an open mind, asking questions and avoiding assumptions, we create space for open conversation.

We all make assumptions automatically – awareness is the first step to challenge them.
