HOTSPOTS
Digital by default
Digital communication can help reduce paper waste during events. Invitations, programmes and feedback forms can often be shared through tools such as SharePoint, email or screens instead of printed materials.
5
Energy-conscious planning
Use existing venues and infrastructure wherever possible to limit additional energy consumption. Hosting events at the Lely Campus or a Lely Center, for example, helps reduce the need for temporary generators and extra facilities.
4
Sustainable sourcing
Choose reusable and recyclable materials wherever possible. Event branding without dates and durable signage can often be reused in subsequent years, while temporary materials should preferably be produced on recyclable cardboard.
3
Waste management
A clear waste separation system makes recycling easier during and after events. At larger Lely events, local partners support the separation of waste streams to reduce residual waste as much as possible.
2
Mobility
Encourage public transport, carpooling and shared travel wherever possible. For larger events, guest registration data can help create more efficient transport schedules and reduce unnecessary travel movements.

HOTSPOTS
From open days to trade fairs and internal events within your region: every choice during event planning can make a difference. At Lely, we aim to organise events more consciously by reducing waste, reusing materials and making smarter choices around transport, energy and catering.
For large, global events such as the Lely Future Farm Days, sustainability is a growing part of the planning process from day one. Together with the Events team, Erik Schilderman, Manager Events & Hospitality, shares practical tips and examples that you can also apply to your local events when working at a Cluster or Lely Center.
