Red Cow Event

Santiago de Compostella transformed into the scene for the 3rd International Red Cow Event. From 17 to 20 October, our Red Cow Members were invited for this 2-yearly event. All activities, such as farm visits and workshops, are organised in the area of Santiago de Compostella, in the northwest of Spain. Key themes of the event are Acceptance, Circularity and Exchange. In that light, it might not be a surprise that the event is organised with a neutral carbon footprint!

Award winning Exos

During EuroTier in Hannover, Germany, Lely Exos won the DLG Agrifuture Concept Award 2022. And of course, this was celebrated with the whole innovations team. Korstiaan Blokland, Director Innovations: 'Lely Exos is designed around the value of grass. It makes us rethink our approach to grass. It stimulates a better balance in the year-round supply of fresh grass thanks to intelligent planning and autonomous harvesting of the Lely Exos.'

GoDare opens new MakerSpace

Little innovators remind us of our founding brothers, Arij & Cornelis van der Lely, whose inventions changed the world of agriculture. We get inspired by the open-minded curiosity of children. The GoDare Foundation opened a completely renovated location in September. A multifunctional MakerSpace where young people can discover their passion for technology and innovation. An environment has been developed on our Lely Campus with various R&D facilities where technical professionals and young people can discover, explore and create under one roof. During the opening, the children of group 8 of primary school St Aloysius presented their innovative solution for stray waste on the farm.

Lely Sphere wins Innovation awards

During the 'Rundvee Mechanisatie Vakdagen' in Hardenberg (The Neterlands), Lely was proud to receive the Innovation Award public prize for the Lely Sphere!

A second Innovation Award was won at the Cattle Mechanization Days in Gorinchem! Team: congratulations on this victory!

A special moment in Greece

Increasing the farm efficiency and improving the animal welfare is always a joint effort between the farmer and Lely Center. This joint effort resulted in a special moment in Greece. A customer of Lely Center Thessaloniki, Kostas Zigas, was awarded the Agriculture and Livestock of the Year award by receiving 100% votes from the largest agriculture committee in Greece. Kostas Zigas was able to enjoy this moment with his family, for whom we hope a bright future in farming lies ahead. Congratulations!

The new cluster DACH location officially opened!

On September 16, the grand opening of the new Cluster DACH location took place in Günzburg.

We were delighted to take our new premises into use in the presence of our CEO André van Troost and our NCEE director Norbert van Hemert, and many colleagues from RSO and Lely International, representatives of the Lely Centers, press and stakeholders as well as our colleagues from the DACH cluster.

During the official part of the event, our 120 guests could go on a Lely time travel: the past, the present, and the future of Lely were vividly presented in various rooms prepared for this purpose. Especially the Lely Horizon and Lely Sphere were of great interest to our guests.

After the official opening, there was a party for Lely colleagues with music, good food, and bull riding to celebrate the new location in a festive way.

We are ready to grow further as a cluster organization. The new location also includes a new training center. As a result, we can now optimally train our Lely Centers at two locations (North and South). We look forward to our new location being actively used by colleagues from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as international colleagues, due to its geographically attractive location!

Together for a sustainable, profitable, and enjoyable future in agriculture!

Marketing Live write up

On September 27th and 28th, Atlantic held a ‘Marketing Live’ event where marketers from the UK and Ireland came together at our offices in Birmingham. The event had fourteen attendees, including our colleagues from International. This Marketing Live Event included icebreakers and presentations from Atlantic and Lely Center staff, our strategies for 2023, and Center staff sharing their best practices, experiences, and support requirements. There were workshops about the Customer Journey and Brand Development, session with external speakers: an Agricultural Influencer called ‘thekerrycowboy’, and Marketing Influencer Abigail Dixon. This insightful event was enjoyed by all who came, especially our team bonding event held in Escape Rooms on one of the evenings.

30 years of robot milking!

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the installation of the first Lely milking robot at the first customer, the Van den Berg family. In the spring of 1992, the Lely Astronaut was installed on the Nescio Farm of Ad and Gretha.

Pioneering is in the blood of the Van den Berg family. 30 Years ago they were the first worldwide to start milking with a milking robot; they are once again taking the lead with the use of the Lely Sphere system. Farming innovators at heart. During the opening of the new building at the Lely Campus in June, Ad and Gretha were presented with the old drawings of the Astronaut to thank them for their effort, enthusiasm, patience, and belief in innovation.

Anne Meestringa 25 years at Lely

Thursday, the 19th of May was a special day for Anne, Center Manager Lely Center Heerenveen in the Netherlands. He works at Lely for exactly 25 years and he has been involved in the establishment of Lely Center Heerenveen from the beginning. This was celebrated in style!

In the morning, Anne was surprised at home with a delicious breakfast, and about twenty service vans and tractors stood in front of his house to escort him to the Center in Heerenveen.

Here the other (former) colleagues welcomed Anne and the anniversary was celebrated with cake and coffee. Gijs Scholman (CCO) was present to congratulate Anne and spoke some nice words.
