Our future farm is fully robotised, consisting of integrated solutions, which operate 24/7. A farm which is centered around the cow, where repetitive tasks are automated and farmers can focus on the things that really matter to him or her.
However, since we launched this vision in 2018, this future in farming is coming under increasing pressure. We live in a rapidly changing world where the population continues to grow. We need farmers to meet the increasing demand for food. The impact of farming on the environment is also coming under increasing scrutiny, and regulations are becoming stricter. Dairy farmers therefore have to change the way they work to guarantee their future.
We have integrated all these elements in our reinforced vision of the farm of the future, which we launched last October. In this vision circularity has been further developed; valuable nutrients are reused, waste is limited, and emissions are reduced to a minimum. Moreover, a future where farming operations are further optimised and available data is used intelligently for predictive maintenance.

Not only data from our robots, but also data from feed suppliers, veterinarians, weather forecasters, insemination suppliers, and so on. Lely Horizon, the new farm management application launched at the Lely Future Farm Days, connects the equipment and suppliers on the farm, using smart algorithms and the power of the cloud. Data is processed into actionable information that is always accessible on any device in a user-friendly way. The application provides farmers with the tools to work more efficiently and offers them more control, to help them achieve their goals. Horizon provides fact-based decision support. It optimises the farmers workflow by offering valuable insights at the right time and in the right place. Integrated routines based on easily scheduled cow touches create logical and more efficient workflows.
About the future: new functionalities are on their way. The platform will grow with more optimisers, advices and predictions. Horizon is not a platform for Lely solutions only. It’s open to our partners and the farmers’ partners too. Bringing our and their data together in a complete information package for the farmer. So connecting and combining relevant information from, in and around the farm. Horizon is a solid basis. Bringing decision support, an optimal farm flow, connection and ease of use.
